Manchester United are closing in on the signing of teenage right-back Diogo Dalot from Porto for £17.4million.
The 19-year-old defender rejected a new contract offer from Porto earlier this season and, with just one year left on his deal, his father told the Portuguese club that he had accepted an offer from another club. United are expected to pay the player's £17.4million release clause, with reports in Portugal suggesting a deal is almost done.
Dalot, who will compete with Antonio Valencia for the right-back slot, is a Portugal Under-21 international who only made his senior debut for Porto in February. It is claimed that United scouted him when he started against Liverpool in the goalless second leg of Porto's Champions League round-of-16 draw at Anfield in March.
He joined Porto's academy aged 11 and won the Under-19 European Championship with Portugal in 2016 but was not included in Portugal coach Fernando Santos' 23-man World Cup squad.
