Thierry Henry has picked out David Silva as the Premier League’s most creative midfielder ever.
The Spain star, nicknamed Merlin by Man City fans, has again been in sublime form this season for the leaders and scored the crucial winner against West Ham on Sunday that helped Pep Guardiola’s side retain their eight-point advantage at the summit.
Since moving to the Etihad in 2010, Silva as scored 53 goals and contributed 111 assists in 325 appearances for the club.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Arsenal legend Henry picked out Silva as the finest of his type in the Premier League.
“He’s the best creative midfielder we’ve seen in this league,” he said.
“I didn’t see everyone play, but David Silva wants the ball and plays the same way against every team. He puts his foot in and doesn’t shy away from the ball. He’s brave off the ball and on the ball. What a player.”
